Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Sand & Finish and Pre-finished floors?
Sand & Finish floors are purchased raw and unfinished. They are delivered, acclimated, installed, sanded then finished to the customer’s specifications. Purchasing prefinished floors can be a much simpler process as prefinished flooring comes boxed and ready to install. Acclimation after delivery is recommended. Both options are beautiful, neither is better than the other. Consider the customer’s lifestyle and jobsite conditions when choosing which is right for the job.
Where can I find wooden vents to match my floors?
Is wood flooring recommended for basements?
Do Pet Proof / Waterproof / Kid proof floors exist?
The reality is no. Though many wood products and non-wood products alike claim to be indestructible or life-proof or water-proof, all flooring can be damaged – it’s all about circumstances. Harder finishes like oil-based PoloPlaz Primero or water-based Bona Traffic HD will cut down on the amount of surface scratches, but if enough pressure is applied by a hard object, the finish will scratch or the wood will indent.
Even luxury vinyl plank products which make the largest claims as being indestructible are not completely safe from scratches. If an object harder than the floor is moved across the floors with enough force, it will scratch, no matter how ‘life-proof’ it is.
How can I keep my furniture from scratching my floors?
Various sizes of floor glides can be applied to the bottom of furniture. We stock many sizes. They can either be tapped into wooden legs or there is an adhesive stick-on option.
What is the ideal way to choose a stain?
Visit our showroom! We showcase stain colors on white oak and red oak boards. The boards also show the difference in color between water-popped (same color, just richer) and non-water-popped options. To ensure the right color is chosen, we recommend testing stain colors on your floor. Ask your contractor to stain samples using a similar sanding sequence as will be used when the project is underway.
